They show some improvement. To capture the life of the figure you need to draw what the figure is doing instead of attempting to draw the figure itself. That's really the mental shift that you should make. This video may help with that
1January 10, 2018 11:17am #2234Hi Ajay, those look quite good for first ever life drawings.
As for your question, the answer is no. While practicing life drawing is definitely necessary, that alone won't do the job. In order to be able to draw poses from imagination you need a good understanding of the design and function of the human body. This means that your drawing approach must be one of analyzing and understanding the figure, not just copying its contours.
To effectively analyze the figure you need to spend time learning fundamentals like drawing forms in perspective and of course the anatomy of the human figure, how the body is affected by different forces, like gravity etc. It's not that hard, you just need to make sure you acquire the right knowledge.
I hope this helps. If you have further questions I'll be glad to answer them :).
1January 10, 2018 1:10am #2232January 9, 2018 4:13am #2229Good start Matthew! The first thing I advice you is to not be concerned with shading for these kind of drawings. Keep your focus on capturing the action.
The second is that you should develop your skill in drawing form. It seems like you're focusing on copying the outlines, and you won't learn much with this approach. Not if your goal is to understand the human body in action well enough to be able to draw it from imagination. For this you'll need to understand the structure of the human body and how it functions to perform various actions.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to ask :).
