Hand practice

My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form

Good morning, Vmaldon1, and welcome aboard, I'm Polyvios, and Happy New Year, and how are you doing today? Nice job on showing some mivement, some bold spaces, and some bolder relationships of your hands drawing/painting(with some boldest pops of colors and values). Very greater, I say!
However, the contours mostly look too much on the itchiest, scratchiest side. Kindly work more with your line confidence with a 5 minute blind contour drawing exercise with a photo of some hands or feet.
The reason why you should do this exercise is because, not only you'll get any and every one of your subjects down in one stroke, but also to help you get the lighter touch with your perceptions of graphic edges. For furthest info, please look into Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and Drawing from the Artist Within, by Betty Edwards; and The Natural Way to Draw by Nicolaides. Good luck to you and your perpetual march of progress!

Hello and good morning to you also Polyvios. Thank you for the critique. I see what you are saying with the line confidence. I have a little bit of a shake with my hand so I am trying to build that confidence up a little. More practice for me lol.

I LOVE the little pops of color you put in this!

Thank you! I've been watching videos lately on portraits and skin so it's nice to see it put into practice :)

It's just the right amount. Not too much. I wonder if there is a color other than grey that would work better for the shadows, though. Maybe something to experiment with going forward. :)

I thought about that too. I meant to do a cooler color rather than just grey but ended up with the grey anyway. I'll take that into consideration next time :)
