though i’m just a beginner and can’r exactly have a word on the matter but i can’t help but notice how your sketches have improved compared to the sketches you posted back in 2016! they’re more angular now and they look strong and expressive. I love the floor in perspective (or are they mats?). Love the two-figure poses. always difficult to draw those but yours are sooo good =)
Thanks a lot marymary! You shouldn't underestimate the value of your point of view just because you are a beginner. What you pointed out is something that I didn't realize myself.
And you're right, those are the floors in perspective to help me get a sense of space.

Just keep in mind that there's only so much you can do in one minute. Producing good drawings requires time. You should consider mixing shorter and longer time intervals to get the best out of both. Keep it up!
1June 28, 2017 2:03am #1942Wow, all of these are really great! I feel so inspired after looking at them. Gonna keep checking this thread out everyday now!
Thanks buzzin-bea :), It's great to hear that you're inspired by my drawings.

Thanks for your kind words Sanne :).

Thank you blackasmidnight! And also thanks for reminding me that I haven't posted here in a while.
April 24, 2017 4:53am #1892It's been a while! I didn't stop practicing though.
I've also started a youtube channel to share some insights and help other artists: Gesture Drawing for Character Design
February 12, 2017 3:12am #1810My condolences too Dennis.
It's great to see that you picked up drawing again. In my experience, drawing is a very relaxing activity. Do you experience it the same way?
I took a look at your website and I liked your 3D art too. Keep up the nice work :)!
1February 12, 2017 3:06am #1809These are fantastic Swen! Wow, I was gonna suggest checking out the work of Mike Matessi to push your work even further. I see you are studying with him though. Fantastic! I had the opportunity to have some drawing classes with him while I was studying at animschool. His work and teachings are great. I definitely can see the influence of Matessi on your work. I really dig that animation too. Your gesture drawings are pretty advanced so I don’t have much in the way of criticism of them. I’m sure Mike keeps you on your toes with that :) Keep up the great work, keep them coming. May the “force” be with you.
Thanks for the kind words countfrogula :). I've been Mike's student for more than a year now, and his teachings took my understanding of the human figure to a whole other level. Everytime I see him draw it reminds me that there are still higher levels of skill to reach. I would say that the most important lesson I've learned from him is that your drawings are only as good as your thinking. So it all comes down to your mindset and thought process when you're drawing.
February 11, 2017 11:21am #1807When it comes to gesture drawing, athletes are at the top of my list of favorite subjects. There's a lot of energy in their movements, and I like the challenge of matching it.
