Getting closer

Done as part of a practice session with poses of 1 hour in length.

About 50 mins total

My current goal is: Develop my own signature drawing style (advanced)

Maybe I was lucky with the motive today, or I just found a more relaxed attitude, but this seemed easier to do than the ones that days before.

I feel like this is mostly, where I want it to be. Some details like the ear do not convince me entirely, but it is getting somewhere.

Greatest job on your hyperrealistic drawn ink rendering, Aunt Herbert. I love how much tension and grace you've really applied to it, but this face all seems a bit farthest too rigidest but timidest to me yet. Would you love to go with our custom drawing class of 59 minutes of 20 second faces and expresssions, with a 5 minute break applied towards the last set of drawings?

The reason why you can and will be able to go with that approach is because, the farthest you get away from hyperrealism, the easiest it'll be to veer farthest to hypercartooniness of expressive drawings. For most details, please look into studying some cartoons and illustrations from the greatest German artists like Wilhelm Busch (Max und Moritz), Heinrich Kley (Disney's Fantasia), Olaf Gulbransson (Simplicissimus), and of course, Wilhelm M. Busch (Illustrator). This way, you can and will be able to get into the most reverse engineering by studying their forces.

Let's hope they've benefitted you.

Polyvios, I cherish your warnings. Sadly, my path will lead me further towards hyperrealism at least for a good while, as I consider it a ladder, that I am willing to climb, before I can leave it behind me.

I have this one very strange idea of a stereomiopic drawing. Basically, drawing the same motive twice, from a slightly different perspective, like when it is seen through a pair of eyes. So far, so boring, as that is the way 3D glasses, etcetera, achieve their effects.

But I want to know if I can draw those images overlapping onto the same paper, with only the visual focus exactly on top of each other, while the images deviate further, the further they are away from the center, into double visions, and also with degrading contrast, like if seen from the corner of an eye.

I don't have the slightest clue, whether it is even possible, to draw that in a convincing way, but for a chance to pull that off, I need all the artistic tools along the entire path down to photorealism and beyond in my tool set, and I need to be able to use them, break them, or reassemble them at will.

If people have the slightest doubts about my skills or intention, when looking at such a piece, they would be too distracted to properly process the effect.

So, with that grandiose goal in mind, I am afraid I will bore you quite a while with quite conventionally looking pieces, and more and more so, as I achieve more control over my skills and drawings. I want to ultimately be able to use those conventions, to create really bizarre mindf**kery with them.

Be assured, I am still doing daily quick sketches, but I don't publish them often. I guess, I have been doing an average of at least 15 to 20 per day for at least two or three years now, and that average includes the days, when I don't draw. I got a stack of sketches that piles up to about a meter high here in my room by now, and it does keep growing.
