I'm impressed! I find water colors EXTREMELY hard to work with with any precision, so this is a pleasure to look at.

As ever, keep focusing on proportions -- the shoulders appear quite small here, even given the twisted pose.

hi. wonderful job. is this watercolor? you got the colors down great. pretty clear and vibrant, and the colors look believable.

however, her face looks a bit wonky -- i can't quite figure out why, but if i had to guess i would say it's the eyes. the body in general is kind of floaty and abstract. perhaps that's what you're going for, but perhaps not. there can be definite appeal in that style of art.

if i had to guess, i'd think you didn't have an underdrawing (pencil, waterproof ink, whatever) for this painting. perhaps you might try it! it doesn't have to be very detaled, just something that acts as a guide for your measurements.

good work. keep painting.

Thank you for your review. The figure is from a live life drawing session and was done in pen & ink (which is what I normally use for these sessions). The painting was done on 12"x16" 200 lb watercolor paper. The underlying drawing was done in pencil (Blackwing). You can still see some of the original painting's pencil drawing (left leg). Yes, there was & is an underdrawing. In the painting, I used wet in wet and layers. In a drawing or painting, I may sometimes exaggerate things. The left leg is seen in profile & should be seen equal in length (upper & lower). It is exaggerated somewhat.

The watercolors used were normal colors.

again, thank you.

Thank you for your review. In watercolor, the underlying drawing is of the utmost importance. If the drawing is flawed then the painting is probably lost. If foreshortening is involved, I will in many cases exaggerate things. This is what I did with the left leg. The upper & lower leg, viewed in profile should be the same length. They are very close. The original is a life drawing I did in a local life drawing session. I also may exaggerate the perspective. Also, some females have broader hips compared to their shoulders. This model has that feature. In a life drawing session, I use pen & ink. so I have to be fast & accurate in my drawing.

Again, thank you for your review.
