The reason why is because, it can and shall be more beneficial to your understanding of lights and shadows in any kind of drawing and sketching. They could be extremely useful on your core shadows, lights, and so on.

To be more specific on the shading, the current shading is a little helter skilter. I would recommend you follow the muscle structures which should hold things together better.

Looks good! I would recommend focusing on the weight of your lines, maybe making certain lines (Especially ones being hit by the most light) thinner. The anatomy is looking great!
