To build on top of this, I'd say start adding shapes that represent the shoulders and torso, the hips, legs, then feet.
Going back over these quick sketches and taking your time and adding body parts will help you understand how the body parts connect to each other and once you do that, you'll be able to add them more quickly next time you do gesture drawing.
