Marine creatures

Done as part of a practice session with poses of 30 seconds in length. I can't say that I like to paint fast and loosy, it seems ... unnatural, haha. As if someone inside me is screaming - you have to draw long and carefully! I've erased and painted over and over and the effect of loosy is still the same loosy. My current goal is: I don't know! I am an absolute beginner; I'm here to study the basics of rendering

You know what I think, Aili, is that I feel that your marine animals are just as loose and fast as they are, so far. (at least)

I really feel that you're loose sketches are definitely on the right track, so that you can have plenty of goals for you to pick and choose.

Well, you don't really have to draw slowly and careful in your sketches, for now. Otherwise those animals will become a bit too rigid, and not enough expression, and a range of cartooniness.

I've got one little nitpick. I love how much line economy you've got in the distinctness in your sea creatures, but I really want you to see you be more ruthless in cutting down the line mileage. Why don't you please be more bolder in your doodles, with 9 lines in your sketches, with 31 minutes of 29 second sketches?? (1860 seconds/29 seconds=about 64 animal marine poses) (All in our website's custom timer)

The reason why is because, it can and will be able to make stronger lightest touches, lines of action, and lines of rhythm. If this shall be your next goal, then I say, go with this.

So, cheers, and happy animation drawing.

Hi ! Thanks for submitting

First of all i'd like to say good job !

You mentionned being a beginner and i must say that for a first try your lines arent that stiff ! The fish on the left down side is even pretty cool.

One thing that might help you improve loosen up your line is drawing with your entire arm, the movement doesn't come from the wrist but from the shoulder actually. Also don't be afraid to draw big, whe doing gesture you shoudn't be restraining your movement to a tiny place on your sketch, maybe switch back to traditional drawing before trying on digi, you'll have more room to train your lines to loosen up.

I hope it helps, have a nice day :)

Nice. If you're a beginner, you have something. So keep on.

Try to capture the basic shape of each creature, your goal should be that the animal is recognizable when someone looks at it.
