Done as part of a 1 hour class. My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form -10 min Figure Study

Good start. Also good, you are dating your work so a later date you can go back and compare the works to see the progress. You can find the proportions of the human figure on the internet for free. I would recommend you study human anatomy - both muscles & bone structure. The study of hands & feet would be a good idea. Line-of-Action has a section on hands & feet. Keep practicing. Remember: Practicing makes better.

Thank you so much for this input!! You have really given me specifics to work on :)

I think you did a good job in the torso, however, I can see that the thighs are extremely disproportionate in accordance with the calves. I would suggest focusing on the legs. Another tip, the torso is about the same length as the thigh, and the foot is the same size as the forearm. I also like the minimal shading. Very good practice!

Thank you for your time. Having you identify the relationships between the forearm and and foot are exactly the kinds of things I was hoping for. (clearly I struggle a bit with them) :) This was very useful :)

calfs look a little thin, if you practice the full figure body over and over porportions get easier to understand, you can see with my progress but i'm still no where near perfect after 3 weeks, i think the 30 second and 1 minute warm ups are very valuable, keep up the straight line drawing instead of naking it curvey it looks more structured.

Thank you Jordankinsley! Ive been caught between differing methods of gesture drawing. I started using only curvy lines but I was doing a little online research before finding this website. According to a known animator, Ethan Becker, using only straight lines at the beginning is best to figure out the overall structure. According to him, curvy lines translate as unsure. After, reviewing the lessons in here its hard to know which is the best method. Thank you so much for the input because you were able to provide a different approach to the use of only straight lines.
